A speed player you can open and use immediately, without uploading a video.
What this site is for
Watching lectures, meeting recordings and interview footage at a faster speed is a common need. Most online players require you to upload the video first, cloud storage may throttle free accounts, and desktop players usually need an extra install.
This site puts the job back in the browser: pick a local video and it plays immediately at any speed from 0.1x to 16x. Hold the right arrow key for a temporary boost.
Why local playback
Local playback means three things: privacy, because the file never leaves your device; speed, because there is no upload or transcoding wait; and no size limit, because multi-gigabyte files open directly.
None of that requires an account or a payment.
How it works
The page reads the file you choose with the browser's File API, hands it to a <video> element through a Blob URL, and changes the speed with playbackRate. Fullscreen, picture-in-picture and keyboard shortcuts all use native browser capabilities.
There is no backend storage — the site is statically generated (SSG) and can be deployed to any static host. All video processing happens on your device.
Browser support
It works in modern browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. Whether a particular file plays depends on whether the browser can decode its codec: H.264 MP4 and WebM are usually fine, while HEVC / H.265 MOV or MKV may not play.
Speed and progress controls also work on phones; hold-to-boost on the right arrow key is naturally more keyboard-oriented.
Costs and ads
The site is free to use. It currently shows no ads and uses no third-party analytics. If ads are introduced later to cover hosting costs, they will be clearly labelled and chosen to avoid disrupting playback.
Feedback
If you find a file that won't play, it helps to include the codec and browser version. If the tool is useful to you, feel free to share it with anyone who watches videos at higher speeds.
